根據 World Economic Forum (WEF) <國際觀光旅遊競爭力報告> (<Travel and tourism competitiveness report>, released at 9-4-2019)，台灣的觀光旅遊競爭力是該區中跌幅最大的，總排名從2017年的30，狂跌到第 37名. 其他亞洲國家的名次為 Japan got No.4, China No.13, Hong Kong No.14, Korea No.16, Singapore No.17, Malaysia No.29, Thailand No.31, UAE No.33, India No. 34,... 至於主要的評鑑項目與分數如下表:

然而依據MasterCard study (6-2015)來台觀光旅客人數的排行，台北卻名列世界第十一、亞太第六。( in terms of the number of international overnight visitor arrivals last year, Taipei ranked 11th in the world and sixth in the Asia-Pacific region./ Taipei Times, 6-6-2015 - see tbl. below) 且近五年每年14.9％的旅客成長率，更高居世界第一，台北吸金力驚人，旅客每人平均消費4萬3千元，整年替台北賺進２７８４億元！ ( fast-growing tourist destination over the past five years.) Euromonitor International調查研究機構（1-28-2017）公布「全球百大旅遊目的地城市」(Top 100 city destinations)報告，以各城市2015年造訪人次為基準列出排名，台北市打敗東京和首爾外居第14名，台中市排名97。(No.1 Hong Kong, No.2 Bangkok, No. 3 London, No. 4 Singapore, No. 5 Paris, No. 6 Macau)
不叫好卻叫座，為甚麼呢?

美國媒體 The Washington Post at 1-5-2018報導: (The Chinese government...) "encouraging Chinese tourism to this island"(中共曾鼓勵陸客來台 ...) 。中國時報 (China Times, 7-14-2015)指出，這「反映出開放陸客的成果」 ―― 靠共產黨'讓利'...

根據自由時報(7-7-2015)引述移民署與觀光局資料，中國客數量，從二○○八年的九萬人，二○○九年五十四萬人，一路增加到二○一四年的三百三十三萬人(正確數字應為 : 3,987,152)，平均以每兩年一百萬人的數量增加；此外中國的港澳旅客(1,375,770人)也大有助益。

Alarm-bell sounds ?!

美國媒體 New York Times at 2-22-2018報導: "The Chinese government has discouraged tourism to Taiwan..."(中共不再鼓勵陸客來台 ... ).

過於依賴陸客，有立委認為(7-7-2015)，這未讓全民受惠，反而付出龐大的國安代價 (他們可能聯想到了日本侵華前的「參謀旅行」)。另一警訊是，中國時報(5-15-2017): 520後陸客大減129萬，觀光產值損失約627億，東南亞客消費力較差，導致觀光飯店、旅行社、遊覽車、精品店...陸續關門; 中天新聞(5-16-2017, 9:30am): 陸客每日消費USD120, 其他國家平均USD48; 雖然The New York Times (5-18-2017): 中國遊客數量的下降，可以在一定程度上被來自其他亞洲市場遊客數量的增加所抵消。聯合報(8-27-2016)社論<觀光慘業的割喉流血才剛開始>指出，兩岸關係倒退，民間的交流惡化，首當其衝的觀光業開始了割喉流血戰，接下來，連鎖效應將向旅館、航空、餐廳和零售等業擴散。中國時報(12-19-2016) <觀光業一片榮景？業者：假的>: 今年陸客大減70萬人次，且跌幅持續擴大，陸客1個抵2個，平均停留天數為7.5天，且全台走透透，其他國家旅客平均停留3.5天，且多集中在台北都會區，陸客消費力平均日花227.58美元，只比排行第一的日客少0.01美元，且花在購物的比例超過52％，是其他國家旅客遠遠不及。壹電視(正晶限時批1-22-2016)報導，有消費力的陸客團只進一條龍中資合夥企業消費、台灣無能收足稅、且中國旅行社欠積團費數十億。因此學者專家認為，台灣應分散風險，開拓歐美、韓國、東南亞、中東的新客源，不要將雞蛋放在一個籃子裡★

只是，美國客僅 458,691人, 歐洲客更少 - 只 264,880，洋人總數僅中国旅客的1/7 ~ 1/8(UDN TV, 8-23-2015: 不少西方人視台為電子工廠云云)。台灣的觀光旅遊，不但無法吸引大量的西方旅客，東方旅客除日本(1,634,790人次) 也很少，台人也寧願出國而不在台灣旅遊，去年來台觀光客991萬人，台人出國卻達1184萬人，"出超"193萬人，去年觀光收支被賺走1596億元，問題出在那裡呢??

台灣食安問題一再凸搥。去年戴奧辛、芬普尼毒蛋事件，現在又冒出「乃卡巴精」禁藥殘留事件。官員害怕業者反彈而隱藏訊息，還縱容業者將問題蛋品回收，同一批問題蛋重新變成促銷品上市重新出售。食安五環防堵機制，效果是零。食安是民眾僅存最卑微的需求，為什麼只是敷衍應對？ ( brief )
