Post missing in Taiwan or red China

robbery style            mystically deed               so,  it's  political   !!?

<Southern Metropolis Daily> (Nanfang Daily) that I subscribed to this well-known newspaper in red China have been missing nearly 2 months copies, somewhere in half way from mainland China to my house in Taipei Taiwan.

This newspaper is known for its 'bravery', their chief editor was sent to the jail  .......

Here is happening  :

TP

(1) Those news have not arrived for about 2 months,  the Southern Metropolis  replied me those daily-news were mailed out. (middle May, 2008)

(2) Contact district branch of Taiwan Post ,  no replies for several days.

(3) Sent e-mail to headquarter of Taiwan Post .

(4) Taiwan Post headquarter replied that they think much of this case and will punish the ones involved.

(5) The employee at his post came my house, the same day I received one parcel <Southern Weekly>(weekend magazine, not news).

(6) Till now, a week passed, got no more post -  about 2 months news disappeared.  (June 8, 2008)

(7) From June 1 on,  newspapers have been  sending to ShangHai upon my request -  they did arrive there already.

(8) Called Taiwan Post Office : I want the thief, rather than those newspapers.
those news mailed by May still not received yet.  (June 13)

What's the Motive ?    in this case......

Before the truth's found out, suspect can be any unit...   However, Taiwan Post's not OK already a number of times  .......

(1) parcels (i.e., FECO news) missing during Courage World Cartoon Contest I organized (70+ countries artists participated in).

(2) not too good response got before.

Below are some suggestions for Taiwan Post's future progress.

     Unbiased comment on Taiwan Post

Taiwan Post logo is behind ........

Taiwan post logo

(Pic left: Taiwan Post Logo, pic right: Green is CIS color)

Taiwan Post's logo is unique : an ancient Chinese character "Post", that the whole world, including almost all Chinese in Taiwan and red China, HK, Macau, Singapore, etc,  do not know .

I believe all Chinese in the world can not write it. (except very few calligraphers)

This image is not easy to be recognized and memorized, it does not try to communicate with anyone on this planet (except  "I am an old system").

Compare with some other countries' logos as below :

 Analysis

Germany Post

  German Post logo

Almost all logos here imply particular meaning, communicate with world people by their image.

(1) Traditional culture :

The logo of China Post combines the calligraphy of Chinese character “中” and the image of the postal network.   Taking the look of wings, it can be associated with the ancient figuration for message exchange. Simple but vigorous, the logo is mainly made up of horizontal and vertical parallels, indicating the sense of order and far reaches. The right-leaning writing gives the sense of direction and speed.   The logo of China Post implies that their target is to serve thousands of households and the  image is to be rapid, accurate, safe and far reaching.

Russia and USA both uses an eagle, but Russia's (since 1874) eagle is a traditional fine-art, US Post simplified its eagle image not long ago.   The kingdom of Nederland uses a crown image.

(2) Graphic design :

i.e., German Post uses a horn, Korea Post uses 3 swallows to symbolize speedy, reliable and safe delivery.  Many other logos like Egypt, France, India, Indonesia, Iran, have similar design.    Indonesia, Iran combine an earth image to emphasize global service.

(3) Calligraphy or char. design

i.e., Australia Post, Japan Post, Singapore Post.  Japan Post has another post symbol which is derived from Japanese words "Teishin".

global express logo

comments

UPS logo (1) Colour: golden and dark brown color -  a safety token.

(2) shield: to symbolize safety.

Fedex logo (1) an arrow toward right direction between "E" and "x" to express "speed".

(2) they don't want people to think of "government", so "Federal" becomes "Fed"

Taiwan Post is not creative   What's wrong with Taiwan's creativity

Some of Taiwan's stamps printing ancient China's palace treasures look pretty.

As for modern graphic-design stamps, not really good, particularly some seems to me are not so original / creative .

For instance, below is a Taiwan stamp made for an international conference.

Two persons in a heart (one falls in love with another, or mom loves baby, etc) is a quite old idea, I've hardly seen any sharp witty graphic design in Taiwan Post.

Heart logo, Mom loves baby logo, Taiwan stamp design

love logo, Mom loves baby

From artistic angle, this stamp is worse than the pic. (right)

Western design: Mom loves baby emblem.

Taiwan Post slogan is not creative

Taiwan post's slogan "We will keep step with our society " (Chinese phrase : 郵政與社會同步時邁進)

Taiwan's widely-known writer W.H. Wong in his essay sneers at Taiwan Post and this slogan  -  he won't be able to see this slogan if the long queue in post-office is shorter.

This slogan can be interpreted in an ironic & funny way "We will not progress until the whole society progress ".

Compared with the slogan of a well-known Japanese company: we progress ahead of our society (translation).

Besides, even the automatic door in the post-office in Daan district, Taipei, does not work some time.

pic above:  the slogan is printed wrongly -  "Taiwan Post steps ahead by itself"  , photo in Taipei post-office (July 2008)

Taiwan's stamp, horrible ?   What's wrong with Taiwan's creativity

Some Taiwan(ROC) stamp's design is quite scary.....

Below is a stamp under the theme of "protect intelligence property".

The hole in the disk looks like a key-hole,  does it mean ....  Taiwan government is watching over Taiwan's own people in an unusual way?

Any civilian are willing to accept your country doing this to you ?

What's the Motive ........ in this "steal post" case

(1) <China Post> ---  In recent years including critical moment (March 2008 Taiwan Presidential Election ), all newspapers were mailed to me as usual, besides, it's reasonable for everyone to think that a lot of Taiwanese working in mainland China can pass updated important information to homeland,  so, it seems to me, Red China government has no motive to block those mails.

(2) <Taiwan Post> ---  responsibility may goes to them, besides, they declared will punish any one involved, so, probably, not them.

(3) <Southern Metropolis Daily> ---   no motive, otherwise they will lose their excellent reputation.

(4) janitor of my house ---  run risk for 2 months to steal news useless to them , not possible.  ( examining if any unfriendly people near by)

(5) others ( possible, black hands, or secret agents, or their secret order, for symbolic tokens, signals .... anyway, internet press may push them to speak out the secrets ).

However, if it is a political matter, guess is a better method than judgment -  sometimes.

PS :

news

(1) <Southern Metro Daily> still mailed (free from July till now end of Sept. 2008) to my relative's place in ShangHai.

(2)  In Aug 2008,  Zhuhai China Post-office answered me that no any newspaper is permitted to be mailed to Taiwan (except books or magazines with bar-codes), if any was mailed cross border, Taiwan Post-office will take them away anyway.  (So, till now still no one admitted took my missing newspapers )

This is quite different as what happened in previous a few years - no matter mailed from ShangHai or Beijing, no matter mailed by personal or news company, all arrived at me.   May 2008 suddenly changed policy ?
